FSG award

What?
Football Science Groningen presents an annual award for the best scientific football research related to:

1) Football & Healthy ageing
2) Football & Performance
3) Football & Sustainable society

Why?
This award aims to stimulate football related research and to increase the visibility of this research to a broader audience.
In order to compete for the FSG award, the following conditions must be met:

  • Master graduation project related to football performed at a Dutch university/university of applied science (completed and approved/graded by institution).
  • The project should fit within one of the three themes of Football Science Groningen (Football & Healthy ageing, Football & Performance or Football & Sustainable society).
  • The project should be written in English or Dutch.
  • The project is finished in the period 2019-2020.
  • The project contains data (no literature reviews).
In order to compete for the FSG award you should follow the next procedure:

  • Send your master graduation project as a PDF file to sportsciencegroningen@umcg.nl including your name, university/university of applied sciences, contact details of applicant and supervisor, title of the project and theme (Football & Healthy ageing, Football & Performance or Football & Sustainable society) no later than August 31 (23.59 h), 2020.
  • A jury, consisting of members of Football Science Groningen and experts from the field, will nominate the three best projects based on the following criteria:
    1. Theoretical quality
    2. Relevance for football science
    3. Relevance for football practice
    4. Originality
  • The three nominees will be announced before October 1, 2020.
  • The three nominees will present their graduation project during a Football Science Groningen event in the autumn of 2020. Instructions will be provided to the nominees.
  • The jury will determine the winner based on the submitted graduation project (75%) as well as the presentation (25%).
  • The winner receives an award of €150,- while both other nominees will receive an award of €50,-.
